What an interesting weather year we have had here in Seattle. From the rainiest year on record to endless sunny days through June and July, we have really had it all here in the Pacific Northwest in 2017. Now however, we find ourselves in the grip of a heatwave that is sweeping the region. With temperatures during the week expected to peak around 100 degrees and with no sign of letting up here at Cyrene Apartments in Downtown Seattle, cooling off is going to have to play a part in all of our days. Here are some of the best spots to cool off during this Seattle Heat Wave!

Go jump in a lake!

Green Lake Park

We are so spoiled here in Seattle. Green Lake Park, located in North Seattle is the perfect example of way. 2.8 miles around and surrounded by good restaurants, good bars, and beautiful homes, this park is the spot to be on a scorching hot day here in Seattle. Not your style? Perhaps try Golden Gardens in Ballard, a laid back sand beach park right on the Puget Sound. With amazing sunsets nearly every night all summer long and fire pits that burn well into the evening, this spot is a must here in Seattle. Another favorite of ours and a short bus or Lyft ride from Cyrene here in Downtown Seattle is Madrona Park. Located right on Lake Washington, the park provides a relaxing spot to chill out with your friends, take a dip in the water, and stay cool during this scorching Seattle heat wave.

Next up, go to a museum!

Seattle Art Museum

Here in Downtown Seattle, we are so fortunate to have a community that supports the arts and because of it, we have some world-class museums and artists. This year in particular has been profound for exhibiting here in Seattle. From the Seattle Art Museum’s current showing of Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrors, a profound exhibit that explores the concept of infinity through perception and immersion, to the Frye Art Museum’s constantly amazing exhibits and collections including an exhibit currently showing of Amie Siegel’s work titled Interiors wherein she explores our perception of objects and their perceived cultural way to us as humans. If that doesn’t suit your taste you could always venture to the Henry Art Gallery on the University of Washington’s campus or the Bellevue Arts Museum and explore the amazing collections both these museums offer as well. And just remember, they all have air-conditioning that will surely alleviate this heat wave here in Seattle….

Or, you could go to movie!

Cinerama

There are few better ways to cool off on a hot day then by going to a movie and Cinerama is definitely the place to be. With incredibly comfy seats, beer and wine, as well as a full line up of food, this place has everything. They have some of the best projectors in the industry as well and host many film festivals and fun events all throughout the year. This week in particular they are showing a 70mm film screening of Dunkirk. An absolutely stunning war movie by Christopher Nolan. With a 4:45 pm and 8 pm movie time on Thursday, we can’t imagine a better after work solution to beat the heat and stay cool on the hottest day of the week. Did we mention it is a short 10 minute walk from us here in Downtown Seattle at Cyrene Apartments?

Cinerama not your style? Fear not because there is a Regal Cinema and AMC equi-distant with blasting AC just waiting for you. See you there!
